A Wish, A Plan, A Dream Come True: REES Helps Team Grant Wish in North Texas

It’s an extraordinary feeling when our team can use their expertise to impact lives in the surrounding community. We were honored to partner with A Wish with Wings, a nonprofit dedicated to granting wishes for young Texans with life-threatening medical conditions. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, A Wish with Wings has granted more than 1,900 wishes for over 40 years. Our Dallas team had the privilege of helping make a dream come true for a little girl named Dream.

Dream’s Special Wish

Dream, a 5-year-old from Fort Worth, lives with Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects the way the brain develops, often causing a loss of motor skills and speech. Despite her challenges, Dream communicates with her eyes and is working toward standing and taking steps in physical therapy. Her wish was unique—a sensory room designed to support her physical therapy, enjoy a space to play and have some control over her surroundings. Unlike many wishes that involve travel, Dream’s wish required thoughtful home modifications to create a safe, stimulating space where she could grow and thrive.

The REES team provided initial drawings to help secure permitting for the renovations, which set the foundation for the incredible work that followed. Updates to the home included new flooring, paint, lighting and windows to the sensory room and Dream’s bedroom. An overhead track system was installed to allow Dream to navigate the sensory room on her own. Lastly, the front porch was replaced with a curb less porch and wider sidewalks to accommodate her wheelchair.

Dream’s wish was officially granted with a reveal on January 25, 2025. Partners from the “Dream Team” came together to celebrate Dream and the project’s completion. Thank you to John Hoover for the invitation to participate in this wish and A Wish with Wings for the incredible work they’ve done for children across North Texas!
