Recognizing the need for a permanent, efficient space, the Grady County Health Department partnered with REES to design a community clinic. Located in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the 11,000-square-foot health facility supports both clinical services and administrative operations for the county.
REES designers worked within the constraints of the building’s existing columns to create efficient departmental flow. Clinic functions are organized to support ease of movement for patients and staff. Visitors enter the clinic from a central corridor into a friendly, welcoming reception area. A dedicated play space offers engaging activities for children of all ages, featuring an interactive projector and storage for toys. The facility includes five exam rooms, a centrally located nurses station, a lab and a playroom for younger patients with an adjacent observation room.
A portion of the facility houses administrative offices for non-clinical health department staff. This area includes private offices, open office zones, touchdown desks for visiting employees, a staff conference room and a break room. A large community room supports departmental programming and serves as a flexible venue for community events. With direct access from the building’s central corridor, the space ensures easy access for the public’s community needs. On the exterior, the original red brick façade was repainted to create a cleaner, more contemporary look, and outdated pavers were replaced with new landscaping to enhance curb appeal.
