As part of a broader effort to bring their brand identity into their facilities, SSM Health partnered with REES to refresh a newly acquired hospital in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The 6,800-square-foot project centered around improving the dining areas, as well as an adjacent multipurpose room. REES designers implemented a cohesive, updated look that reflects SSM Health’s visual identity, while improving patient and visitor comfort.

A Bright, Functional and Branded Environment

The renovated area includes the servery, main dining room, doctor’s dining area with a dictation office and a multipurpose room for meetings and trainings. The team focused on integrating SSM’s branding through thoughtful color and material choices. They also prioritized durability and cleanability to support the demand of these high-use spaces. The servery, which connects the project with the main hospital, was rearranged to open the space and provide a better flow.

Large-scale porcelain wall slabs brighten the dining area and provide clean, low-maintenance finishes. A mix of seating types supports a variety of needs, incorporating booth seating, high-top community tables and standard tables and chairs. Light-toned wood-looking flooring and warm accent colors create a welcoming environment. Different dimensional ceiling treatments define the various zones of the dining area, providing separate visual areas than one wide-open space.

Located just off the main dining area, a multipurpose room offers flexibility for meetings and training sessions. A built-in staging area allows catering to be set up, depending on the function. Its proximity to the cafeteria makes it a natural extension of the dining experience, while the finishes and layout maintain visual continuity with the rest of the renovated areas.
