REES Wins 2019 SMPS Award of Excellence

We’re pleased to share the “Planting Daisies” book created during the pursuit of the Girl Scouts project received the Award of Excellence in the Society of Professional Service Marketers’ (SMPS) National Marketing Communications Awards competition. The book was submitted in the project pursuit marketing category and announced as an award winner during the organization’s annual conference in Washington, DC.

When the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma announced their goal of building a camp promoting outdoor-centered activities and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs, the REES team knew it was a project we wanted to pursue. With a majority female workforce in our Oklahoma City office, we value women in STEM professions and recognize the importance of encouraging young girls to become interested in these fields.

In pursuit of the project, our team created a children’s storybook titled, “Planting Daisies”. The story uses illustrations to bring to life REES’ designs for the camp, through the eyes of a young scout. Each page recalls the memories of Margot, as she describes her years as a Girl Scout to her daughter Rosie. REES’ renderings of multiple planning concepts add to the imagery of the story, as Margot earns a new badge in a new space on every page.

This marketing piece not only resulted in REES winning the project, but the Girl Scouts reproduced hundreds of copies for use in their Capital Campaign with a new title, “Camp the City”. This project allowed our client to visualize our proposal, while displaying our commitment to building a magical place that will help create lifelong memories for Girl Scouts, adult leaders, staff and visitors.

The REES-designed “Camp Trivera” will become a first-of-its-kind STEM camp, set to open in 2020. Click here to learn more about the Girl Scout’s camp!
