Oklahoma Healthcare Projects Win Design Excellence Awards from IIDA Texas Oklahoma
The IIDA Texas Oklahoma Chapter recently celebrated their Design Excellence Awards, recognizing the highest quality and innovation in interior design across Texas and Oklahoma. The annual event gathers designers from eight cities in both states to celebrate the creativity and achievement of the region’s best projects. This year, REES won two awards for Oklahoma healthcare projects.
Stillwater Medical Center Surgical Unit & Women’s Health Center
Design Excellence Award, Acute Healthcare Small
Driven by the community’s demand for accessible treatment options, Stillwater Medical Center sought extensive enhancements to expand its main facility’s capacity for care. The renovations and additions to the surgical and obstetrical units offer cutting-edge medical technologies and comprehensive services to Stillwater residents, rivaling those found in major metropolitan areas.
The transformed 44,000-square-foot surgical unit caters to diverse healthcare needs. Bringing significant advancements to the infrastructure, the unit improves medical outcomes and increases accessibility that didn’t exist previously. Video-integration in operating rooms provides physicians with a streamlined surgical workflow, while the latest robotic technology supports minimally invasive surgery. Airborne particles are mitigated by a modular ceiling diffuser, improving safety during surgery. Click here to read more about the project.
The 26,000-square-foot Women’s Health Center offers previously unmet women’s healthcare for the region. The Level 2 NICU supports babies born as early as 32 weeks, allowing infants to receive care close to home rather than being airlifted to a major metropolitan area. Eliminating 100 miles of travel for NICU services, families can now stay together after delivery, increasing positive outcomes for both babies and mothers. Postpartum rooms improve patient care with larger, more inviting spaces and enhanced newborn monitoring equipment. Calming colors and thoughtful lighting promote relaxation, elevating the birthing experience for patients and loved ones from delivery to discharge. Find out more about the project here.
Mercy Love Family Women’s Center
Design Excellence Award, Acute Healthcare Medium
Experiencing a significant population surge in the Oklahoma City area—with a population now boasting more than 1.4 million residents—Mercy identified a critical demand for expanded women’s healthcare services. The 175,000-square-foot center’s 73 patient rooms increase the existing hospital’s capacity by 40 percent, supporting 6,000 births annually. The facility features the state’s first hospital-based low-intervention birthing center. Women who prefer a less-invasive birthing experience can bring their child into a cozy, home-like environment with higher level care available nearby. The obstetrics emergency department is the first of its kind in the city, providing 24/7 access to specialized services from an OB-GYN. An outpatient clinic serves women across all stages of life, providing physical therapy, dietician and lactation services. Discover more about the project here.
We are proud to have worked alongside Stillwater Medical Center and Mercy on these impactful projects. Thank you to IIDA Texas Oklahoma Chapter for these recognitions, and congratulations to the clients and team members who brought these designs to life!
